Kaptain's Log: 7/19/09
Today we are in Rapid City South Dakota, at the Hills Alive Festival. We played a show here last night, right before a couple of good friends; Bob Lenz, and the band Skillet. If you haven't seen Skillet sometime this year....they are incredible! Their show is so ridiculous (I mean that like how we use it on the West Coast).
Our day off today was blessed by a performance form Newworldson. We toured with them over a year ago with the Newsboys. They are always such an incredible band to watch. All musicians stand in awe.
Tomorrow we will start our summer leg of the Welcome To The Family Tour! If you live near Casper Wyoming, please come see us at the show. You will also see Chasen, Esterlyn, Stellar Kart, and Disciple!! All of these bands are on the same management team as we are. www.platformmanagement.com, and as we've all toured together in the past, we thought it was appropriate to let the crowds know the we feel like a big family of friends. We also feel strongly that all of you, are a part of our family as well, or....more importantly, God's family!
We have finally finished our new record It Is Well, which is due out on October 20th. This was such a refreshing record for us to make. As we went through the process of writing, and selecting worshipful songs, it really caused us to focus on what worship is as a band. Our life should be His poem, His song. Our heart should be His sanctuary, His pulse. Our actions should be His will, with His guidance. We studied through the book of Romans together as we recorded. God's Word spoke to us in a very impacting way, and I'm glad to say that we really feel like we have a vision to follow for the remainder of our days as a band. Thankfully, we've reached this important point in our lives as 5 guys who love each other a great deal, and have a desire to serve one another's families.
Our prayer is that these songs will be something that makes you feel like singing to Jesus, as you listen. We hope for our shows to be a place where we can lay all of our failures at the foot of the cross, and feel God perfecting us as we grow. On this current tour we will be debuting some of these songs like Give Us Clean Hands, and Taken By Love (which is one that Jon Micah wrote late one night.)
