As usual, when it has been a while since we have posted a journal update it is partially due to the fact that we have been crazy busy. Let me first rewind to the Welcome To the Family Tour and thank everyone who came out to see us. The tour was an absolute success and it was great to see so many of you at the shows. About half of the shows were completely sold out and we unfortunately, had to turn people away. Honestly we didn't know what to expect with everything we had been hearing about the economy and rumors about ticket sales struggling with many other bands. You guys came through and I can't tell you how appreciative we are of your support! Also, we'd like to thank Disciple, Stellar Kart, and Esterlyn for being a part of the tour. We had a blast on this tour and it was a privilidge having those guys on the road with us again. If you were bummed you missed the tour, the good news is that we will be continuing this tour in select markets this summer! We plan to tour into a few areas that we didn't go to this spring and we hope to revisit a few of the areas where shows were sold out, not mention we will be performing at a handful of the major festivals this summer as well. I hope you will all be able to make it out at some point as it looks like we have a great summer ahead of us.
There are a couple of current big Kutless news items I'd like to share with you. First, we have begun working on our next full length record and are in the process of selecting the final songs for this project. We are super excited about it and for everyone who has been asking and wondering what it will be like, lets just say that if you were a fan of Strong Tower, you will have to check out this record when it is finished. Secondly, the major news from my household is that my wife and I had our baby, Emily Karis Sumrall, on March 24. She weighed 7lbs 9oz and both her and Shannon are healthy and doing well. It has been crazy having a newborn around our house again, and I am still trying to get use to only sleeping 2-3 hours at a time (I don't know if you ever get used to that) but I am very thankful that everything worked out and I was able to be home when she was born. It is exciting to see what God has in store for us and our family and it has been really cool watching Caleb begin to take on the responsibility of a big brother. I would like to thank everyone who has been praying for us. I appreciate them more than you know, as I know that prayer is indeed powerful. I plan to spend a couple weeks at home with my family before we start the craziness of this summer but we are looking forward to seeing you guys when we hit the road again. Don't forget to check out our tour dates page to see when we will be performing near you. We have a ton coming up including shows in England, Switzerland, and Alaska next month before we come back and start off our summer season at Spirit West Coast in Del Mar, California.
